Press Release - Wahoo Decks Offers Sustainable Solutions

WAHOO DECKS OFFERS SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS FOR DECK BOARDS, DECK JOISTS AND RAILING

Environmental Responsibility in Outdoor Living

GAINESVILLE, GA, July 16, 2009 – Wahoo Decks, a leading manufacturer of aluminum decking products, has recently developed recyclable, sustainable options for deck boards, deck joists and deck railing allowing builders, contractors and homeowners to extend the sustainability of their homes to their outdoor living areas.

The products, AridDek aluminum decking, DryJoist aluminum deck joists and Wahoo Rail aluminum railing are all manufactured using 45% recycled content from industrial and post-consumer aluminum scrap. Because of this recycled content, Wahoo Decks’ products assist builders in achieving points toward LEED credits based on the standards set forth by the LEED Green Building Rating System within the categories of Recycled Content of Materials and Construction Waste Management.

“Aluminum is fully recyclable and it will last a lot longer than pressure-treated lumber typically used in deck construction,” said Jon Bailey, Vice President of Wahoo Decks. “The benefits of aluminum go beyond it being recyclable. Aluminum is naturally resistant to rot, decay, warping, insects and fire, meaning no harmful chemicals need to be added to the material to increase the structural integrity and boost the longevity of the product.”

The premise of Wahoo Decks is to provide outdoor deck products that are ideally designed to maintain their structural integrity and appearance and are targeted to both the refurbishment of existing outdoor structures and new builds. The most popular product lines, AridDek and DryJoist, are products to create a dry area below an outdoor deck, making the area suitable for an enclosed living area. Each of the products have unique benefits but both share a common feature that has fueled their popularity – they are both simple, one-step processes that can be quickly installed by a contractor or homeowner with standard tools and are 100% effective.

About AridDek

AridDek is a waterproof aluminum deck board with a tongue-in-groove design that creates a beautiful, low-maintenance deck surface while providing the added bonus of an integrated gutter system for a dry, usable space below the deck. The safe, non-skid textured surface naturally stays cooler to the touch than traditional decking planks and can also be used as boat dock decking.

About DryJoist

DryJoist is the first and only structural deck drainage system. When assembled, DryJoist creates a finished ceiling, a waterproof dry space below and the structure of the deck all in one system. Made of marine-grade, precision-extruded aluminum, the system is strong enough to replace the need for conventional wood joists and is impervious to rot, insects, mildew and fire. Deck boards can be fastened to the system in any direction without the need for extra blocking, making it easier to create the custom deck surfaces and design options that today’s outdoor living enthusiasts expect.

About Wahoo Rail

Complementing a deck’s overall appearance or any outdoor landscape, Wahoo Rail is a deck rail system that is not only maintenance free but is long-lasting and incredibly stable. Wahoo Deck Rails are available in White, Mocha and Antique Bronze. Not only quick and easy to install, the aluminum railing will keep its enduring strength for ages. Available in 36” & 42” heights, Wahoo Rail is one of the most durable rails in the market and is well suited for commercial applications as well as residential.
